Flora McCallica (suspension) 2017,  Silkscreen printed newspapers on metal frames. Ten folios with photographic b&w silkscreen on newsprint 79.5×58 cm. Frames: 120x82x47cm each.

Flora McCallica (Regent’s Park Illegal Seller) 2017,  Photographic prints on varied papers.  An ensemble of silkcreen,  lithographic and laser photographic prints ranging from 20×13 cm to 83×61.5 cm.

Flora McCallica, Laser printed book on table of foam, felt and metal. Twenty pages, b&w photographs laser printed on corona offset paper 120gsm, 40x26cm; softcover of mixed-fibre stitched removal blanket and two-piece metal book binding clip 147×114 cm open, 42x29x10cm folded. Table: 100x100x48cm

Flora McCallica: All images based on mixed media collage made of orphan photos (a set of prints dated 1958 found in the Lisbon flea market) and a herbarium discarded by the London Kew Gardens (dated 1920s). Approximate silkscreen print sizes: 85 x 60 cm (single sheet, printed both sides) and 80 x 120 cm (1 signature, printed in three sheets). Hand printing: black silkscreen ink treated with water and heat by hand, creating stains and patterns that are unique to each print. paper: newsprint. total edition: 100 copies. Work titled after Annie McCall founder of the Maternity Hospital (1889-1970) where Stockwell Studios and msdm publications were based until 2013, and where the work was developed.

Participatory architectures (how to build your own living structures)  240 x 120 x 70 cm sculpture made of two oversize book covers (photographic digital print on canvas, wood binding), newspaper Participatory architectures, 12 pages, colour, photography on newsprint, 29cm ×38 cm, metal structure base, two linear lights with fluorescent tubes, wiring.

 

Work inspired by the outdated remains of a 20th century architectural utopia, a village developed as part of national housing project code-named SAAL, the experimental programme of peoples’ right to place emerged in the short experience of participatory democracy during the Portuguese revolution. Installation view: msdm studios,  Unit8 at Bow Creek, London.


Areopagitica (Milton’s Nose)

Areopagitica (Milton’s Nose): 153 x 90 x 83 cm table assemblage, selection of pages from two newspapers – Russian Riots and Areopagitica (Milton’s nose), two clay noses created by students at St. Paul’s School ceramic studios, 5 assorted stones on wood and metal table.
