LIGNUM
Para dar início a este trabalho mergulhei no arquivo de fotografias procurando trazer á luz do dia imagens que corporalizam o tema lignum. Lignum significa madeira em latim, a sua escolha prende-se com ideia da ancestralidade do uso da madeira, das árvores e dos seus derivados até aos nossos dias.
Estaremos a permitir que a floresta recupere, estaremos a permitir que o ciclo da vida se complete ou estaremos a fazer um uso tão intensivo e desmesurado deste recurso que estamos a provocar o seu esgotamento.
Na conceção deste trabalho levei isso em linha de conta criando folhas que se dobram podendo o leitor combinar as imagens como desejar, permitindo-lhe diferentes olhares sobre a mesma realidade.
A imagem impressa em folha de acetato representa o renascimento das árvores podendo ser vista de forma isolada ou colocada por cima de uma qualquer imagem visto que ela se encontra solta. Esta mobilidade visa alertar para a necessidade de, em todas as fases do uso da floresta, das árvores, da madeira, ser necessário dar tempo para a reflorestação, que tem que ser pensada, planeada e executada tendo em conta o respeito pelos ecossistemas sob pena de os perdermos para sempre.
Para além da mensagem ambiental pretendo também com este trabalho levar o leitor a olhar a beleza inerente às árvores, elas que ‘morrem de pé’…
LIGNUM
To start this work I immersed myself in the photo archive in an attempt to bring to light images that embody the theme lignum.
Lignum means wood in Latin. Its choice has to do with the idea of the ancestral use of wood, trees and their derivatives to the present day…
Are we allowing the forest to recover, are we allowing the cycle of life to be completed or are we making such an intensive and excessive use of this resource that we are provoking its depletion?
In the conception of this work, I took that into account by creating sheets that can be folded, allowing the reader to combine the images as desired, thus allowing different views of the same reality.
The printed image in acetate sheet represents the rebirth of the trees and it can be seen isolated or placed over any other image since it is loose. This mobility aims to be a warning sign about the need to give time for reforestation in all phases of the use of the forest, of the trees, of the wood, which has to be thought, planned and executed having in mind the respect for the ecosystems or we risk losing them forever.
Besides the environmental message, I also intend this work to lead the reader to look at the inherent beauty in trees, they who 'die standing' ...
