general panel : my garage
A mobile display by Eva Hertzsch and Adam Page

my garage is now public. It was once a symbol of domesticity, as important to the home as any washing maschine. It has been an integral of family life since American 30's housing, and the consequent triumph of the Marshall Plan, Vauxhall Viva , Ford Cortina, VW 1600 et al. In addition to embodying domestic bliss, it later developed a cult creative status as the birth place of HP, Windows, Garage Beatz and Trip Hop. Now it's hitting the streets, an unprotected and open artwork raising questions about ownership and common property. In the garage there's a car: is it an object of desire? Is this its reason for being? Will the garage change? Will it be sprayed up or bill stickered? Will it be destroyed? A challenge and an experiment for the public and for the authorities, for autonomy and anarchy, for acting out the private in public. A model for participation?
It is a display and a home for general panel. From 5th May 2005 on Augustusplatz
