This exhibition is part of the “Chão, Terra e Pessoas” (Ground, Earth, and People) project and reflects the work we have been developing with Albergues do Porto. Based on the concepts that give the project its name—Ground, Earth, and People—we find in our practice the act of doing and reflecting on the place where we are and where we carry out our activity.
This exhibition is more than just a report on the meetings, workshops, conversations, and gatherings that we have been sharing with the local community, exploring the land together with neighbors, the public, MIRA artists, and hostel residents.
The exhibition takes place inside MIRA and in the ruins owned by the hostel where we explore the vegetable garden, watch movies, and share knowledge and food in a convivial atmosphere. In these spaces, we present photographs, videos, and installations that reflect this intense relationship mediated by the ground and the earth. At AlbergArte, the art gallery at the hostel headquarters, this exhibition continues under the theme “This is not a herbarium.”
It is from the intersection of multiple realities that we aim to obtain a multi-layered map of a small urban area, in this world where so many realities intersect. In these exhibitions, we seek to articulate practice with artistic expressions, which is one of the objectives of this project. Our focus is to think about reality in terms of place, of the nearby community where we intervene systematically, without losing sight of other places in the world.
This exhibition is part of the “Chão, Terra e Pessoas” (Ground, Earth, and People) project, which is supported by the Portuguese Republic dgARTES/ RPAC - Portuguese Contemporary Art Network.
Esta exposição faz parte do projeto "Chão, Terra e Pessoas" e reflete o trabalho que temos desenvolvido com os Albergues do Porto. Partindo dos conceitos - Chão, Terra e Pessoas - que dão nome ao projeto, encontramos na nossa prática o fazer e o refletir no lugar em que estamos e em que desenvolvemos a nossa atividade.
Pretende-se que esta exibição seja mais do que um relatório de contas dos encontros, workshops, conversas, encontros que sustentadamente partilhamos com a comunidade próxima explorando a terra conjuntamente com vizinhos, público e artistas do MIRA e residentes do albergue.
A mostra acontece no interior do MIRA e nas ruínas propriedade do albergue, com a participação de Adelino Marques, onde exploramos a horta, onde vemos cinema e onde partilhamos saberes e comeres em convívio.
Nestes espaços, apresentamos fotografia, vídeos, instalações que refletem esta intensa relação que tem o chão e a terra como mediadores. Na ALbergArte, galeria de arte na sede dos Albergues, esta exposição prolonga-se sob o tema "Isto não é um herbário".
É do cruzamento de múltiplas realidades que se pretende obter um mapa multicamadas de uma pequena área urbana, neste mundo em que se cruzam tantas realidades. Nestas exposições, procuramos articular a prática com expressões artísticas que é um dos objetivos deste projeto. O nosso foco é pensar a realidade no sentido do lugar, da comunidade próxima onde intervimos sistematicamente, sem perder de vista outros lugares no mundo.
