Oficina-laboratório onde corpo e planta se encontram em processos de cuidado e transformação metabólica. Através de práticas artísticas e herbalistas, exploramos o papel de ervas medicinais e algas na saúde celular, na criação de imagens e na partilha de saberes entre diferentes tradições culturais.

WORKSHOP
Entre o corpo humano e o corpo vegetal existe um campo metabólico partilhado. A partir desta ideia nasce o herbário metabólico — um espaço onde plantas medicinais, imagem e práticas de cuidado se encontram.
Esta oficina propõe um encontro entre arte contemporânea e herbalismo, a partir de uma experiência pessoal de regeneração após um diagnóstico de cancro. O herbário é entendido não apenas como arquivo botânico, mas como dispositivo vivo de escuta entre espécies, onde plantas e corpos se co-transformam.
Os participantes exploram plantas e algas associadas à saúde celular, ao sistema imunitário e ao equilíbrio metabólico, incluindo phytolacca (phytolacca decandra), thuja (thuja occidentalis), erva-de-guiné (petiveria alliacea), sutherlandia (sutherlandia frutescens), folhas de graviola (annona muricata), pau d’arco (tabebuia impetiginosa), raiz de dente-de-leão (taraxacum officinale), chá verde (camellia sinensis), passiflora (passiflora incarnata) e algas como musgo-marinho-irlandês (chondrus crispus) e bodelha (fucus vesiculosus).
A oficina articula práticas de imagem e de preparação vegetal.
Num primeiro momento, criamos impressões solares e fitogramas com plantas e algas medicinais, explorando as suas formas, texturas e presenças como imagens regenerativas. As imagens tornam-se páginas de um herbário coletivo.
Num segundo momento, partilhamos experiências e conhecimentos sobre o uso terapêutico e simbólico destas plantas em diferentes tradições herbalistas da Europa, Índia, África e Caraíbas.
Por fim, preparamos infusões e elixires vegetais, ativando as plantas através do gesto, da respiração e da escuta.
A oficina é concebida como um rito de encontro entre espécies, onde o vegetal não é apenas matéria de representação, mas parceiro ativo nos processos de cuidado, imaginação e criação.

A workshop-laboratory where body and plant meet through processes of care and metabolic transformation. Through artistic and herbal practices, we explore the role of medicinal herbs and seaweeds in cellular health, image-making, and the sharing of knowledge across different cultural traditions.

WORKSHOP
Between the human body and the plant body there exists a shared metabolic field. From this idea emerges the metabolic herbarium — a space where medicinal plants, image, and practices of care enter into relation.
This workshop proposes an encounter between contemporary art and herbalism, grounded in a personal experience of regeneration following a cancer diagnosis. The herbarium is understood not only as a botanical archive, but as a living device for interspecies listening, where plants and bodies co-transform.
Participants explore plants and seaweeds associated with cellular health, immune support, and metabolic balance, including phytolacca (phytolacca decandra), thuja (thuja occidentalis), guinea hen weed (petiveria alliacea), sutherlandia (sutherlandia frutescens), soursop leaves (annona muricata), pau d’arco (tabebuia impetiginosa), dandelion root (taraxacum officinale), green tea (camellia sinensis), passionflower (passiflora incarnata), and seaweeds such as irish sea moss (chondrus crispus) and bladderwrack (fucus vesiculosus).
The workshop weaves together image-making and plant preparation practices.
In a first moment, we create solar prints and phytograms using medicinal plants and seaweeds, exploring their forms, textures, and presences as regenerative images. These images become pages of a collective herbarium.
In a second moment, we share experiences and knowledge about the therapeutic and symbolic uses of these plants across different herbal traditions from Europe, India, Africa, and the Caribbean.
Finally, we prepare infusions and plant-based elixirs, activating the plants through gesture, breath, and attentive listening.
The workshop is conceived as a ritual of encounter between species, where the vegetal is not merely a material for representation, but an active partner in processes of care, imagination, and creation.
