In 'A Piece of Fabric,' an interdisciplinary project, we harnessed 3D AI Apps, and the movement of live model Wilbur Wang to choreograph visual compositions. Staged within the msdm House-Studio-Gallery in Woolwich and amidst Tooting's public realms, our narrative unfolds parallel to the search for Iri.
In one of the scenes Wilbur draws inspiration from this quest using collaged elements from our 'missing cat' poster. In another we explore 'becoming animal' and meeting with foxes in the shared public space of South London.
Throughout the video, we hear theoretical analysis of 'a piece of fabric.' obtained by feeding images of Valentim's 2024 collection to an AI trained in decolonial theory.
The resulting textual narratives were subsequently read and sung, crafting a synthetic soundscape that marries voice and music with the video's visual poetry.
