paula roush presents Blackchapel photobookwork and installation created during her residency
at 85 Stepney Way, the warehouse occupied by msdm studios 2015-2017.
During her two-year stay, paula collected traces of the space's social history,
from the Red Lyon's (Elizabethan theatre) archaelogical dig, and LIFFE coffee and cocoa
traders's grading room, to the occult lines of influence that posit Whitechapel
as a space where gothic fiction is part of everyday life.
Julie Cook presents The E.L.S.C. FILES (East London Strippers Collective),
a collaborative book project that evidences the activism of a group of six women,
juxtaposing this with the language of photographic portraiture and performance
within an East London warehouse awaiting demolition and redevelopment.
