Wearables sourced from the most iconic collection in the Found Photo Foundation.
Flora McCallica is a collage of orphan photos from a set dated 1958 found in Lisbon
flea market and a 1920s herbarium (Herbarium Britannicum) deaccessioned by London
Kew Gardens.
The title is an evocation of Mary Delany, inventor of botanical collage
(Flora Delanica 1772-1782) and Annie McCall founder of the Maternity Hospital (1889-1970)
where msdm studio were based as part of Stockwell Studios.
The collages have auto-ethnographic and archaeological references,
and like pieces of evidence altered by the passage of time,
show stains and patterns that are unique to each work.
