Swapnil Patil’s _The Empty Spaces_ invites readers into a surreal exploration of time, space, and solitude within the urban fabric of London. Created during the quiet hours of the city—often at 2 a.m.—this series captures the interplay of movement, light, and time through meticulously composed long-exposure photography. The resulting images are abstract compositions, where light trails become dynamic strokes that traverse space and time.Patil’s process is central to the work. Through deliberate camera movements during microsecond-long exposures, he shapes light into fluid, symmetrical lines that evoke both control and flow. The conversion to black and white further emphasizes these patterns, stripping away distractions to focus on the interplay of geometry, texture, and contrast. Each photograph becomes a visual meditation, inviting viewers to pause and reflect. An ‘absolute space point’ emerges from the field of physics and relates to the idea of an unchanging,fixed reference point in space, the existence of an ultimate and unvarying spatial framework that serves as a backdrop for all events and objects.
