Discover the water in the library. From textbooks to visual books and photo-texts, explore how water shapes the bibliographic experience. Gain insights on water philosophies, hydro-feminism, ecological curatorial practices, and 'wet' artist books and photobooks. A collection of photobooks, artists' books and ephemera (printed matter) on permanent display, which has grown from msdm collection and additional recent acquisitions focused on the theme of water, curated by paula roush.

WATER IN THE LIBRARY   is a photo-textual bibliography of artists’books,  photobooks, catalogues, monographs, critical theories on the theme of water. It is an outcome of research started in 2021 with the project liquid memories,  focused on experimental publishing that explores liquid materialities as artistic archival practices [see liquid memories bookwork here].

WATER IN THE LIBRARY is planned in three sections, with three key documentary materials that propose a re-reading of a photographer’s practice from a fluid (watery) perspective. Interweaving processes of documentation with personal and research experiences the studio library is at the center of study, production, and archive of emerging creative practice.

It is a reference library, used for research and teaching of art publishing, open to the public by appointment.  The content  is currently being catalogued with libib [search ONLINE CATALOGUE  here + ].
