about paula roush and msdm
paula roush is an academic, researcher and practicing artist. she
is the founder of mobile strategies of display & mediation (msdm), a mobile house-studio-gallery developed in london and currently stationed in lisbon. msdm publications include follow y/our river: lea-minal edges | prompts for transitory states of being (co-edited with tamara stoll and hḗrā santos, msdm publications, 2024), wide load | a house moved (co-edited with tonia carless, msdm publications, 2023), and water prints (msdm publications, 2022).
her artistic work includes the research-based installations one green eye, the other blue: herbarium of the anthropocene (mira galleries, porto, 2025), a speculative herbarium rooted in the campanhã area of porto in dialogue with more-than-human ecosystems; ‘paula’ & work: a document on the machinic enslavement in academic capitalism (borough road gallery, london, 2023–2024), which investigates how academic identity is produced, classified, and rendered redundant within algorithmic systems of value extraction; and the relational art practices creia — creative attentive studio for mindful art practice (with ines amado). she is also the founder of the found photo foundation, which engages vernacular photographic archives through speculative fabulation; runs collaborative zine laboratories exploring publishing as counter-infrastructure; and develops recent experiments with generative ai in editorial and pedagogical contexts, where she reappropriates algorithmic systems for critical fabulation and situated image-making.
her writing features in two forthcoming edited monographs: library of artistic print on demand: post-digital publishing in times of platform capitalism (annette gilbert & andreas bülhoff, eds., spector books, september 2025) and re-evaluation in feminism and contemporary art (katy deepwell, ed., vernon press, december 2025).
