XISTORIAS/Schistories
Commissioned by Rural Development Agency ADXTUR to create a project in the ‘schist’ mountain villages of Portugal, an area that has become depopulated and is now being developed as a destination for tourists. Titled Xistorias/Schistories, the participatory work used oral history, new technologies and creative processes to evoke a dramatic encounter between the rural traditions of the past and present-day cultural practices.

Participatory exhibition developed in collaboration with four feminist NGOs [msdm with ASHA projects, Eaves Housing Association, Riverpoint Emergency Hostel and Sojourner Housing Association] ] providing temporary shelter to homeless young women in London
Commissioned by TAP/ South London and Maudsley NHS Trust.
A mobile intermedia platform was set up to bring digital technology to the shelters and develop the participants’ skills as critical actors in the urban environment. Made up of an ensemble of artworks, the installation at the 198 Gallery, addressed topics such as womens’ housing rights, feminist architectural models and reclamation of public space.
Funded by the New Audiences/ Regional Challenge grant of the Arts Council England.

Artist-run project and programme of exhibitions, workshops
and publications, a research framework for photographic
art as publishing practice.
Throughout the history of the project there has been a
questioning of how artists, photographers and publishers can experiment with and develop critically reflexive forms of exhibition practice for photobookworks.
Projects have taken on various formats ranging from installations and presentations in institutions, and the production of editions through commissions and collaborative formats.

Xistorias/ Schistories: project facilitator> Commission to create a project in the ‘schist’ mountain villages of Portugal, an area that has become depopulated and is now being developed as a destination for tourists. Titled Schistories, the participatory work used oral history, new technologies and creative processes in wokshops and live performance to evoke a dramatic encounter between the rural traditions of the past and present-day cultural practices.

Program of workshops leading to creation and publication of newspapers with four artists users of CoolTan Arts studio: William Ball, Graeme Newton, Aaron W.J. Pilgrim and Saffron Saidi. Commissioned by HS Projects with funding from ICAP: Insight Community Arts Programme. Artwork was exhibited in the lounge area in ICAP London’s headquarters building (Blackfriars), and could be accessed and downloaded via QR codes.
